I was hoping to get some input regarding the process required to lodge a second visa application for my de facto spouse/partner?

My circumstances are as follows. I have preveousely gone through the application process for my ex de facto partner/spouse some years ago and I was successful in this. We are no longer together and have not been for since 2010, she no longer lives in Australia and has not since 2010. I have been in a new realtionship with my Mexican partner for the nearly 3 years, living in Mexico, and we wish to explore the possibility of moving to Australia on a permanent basis.

My questions are: Is the process more difficult, prolonged or troublesome if I have already been through this with another person?

Also, what is the best way to get the ball rolling? We are still living and working in Mexico, trying to set up a new business to finance ourselves and our plans to move eventually to Australia. We recently visited my family in NSW and my partner was granted a visitor visa which we used for 5 weeks and then returned to Mexico.

If anyone has any advice on how to navigate this process I would be very grateful for your assistance. We are here in Mexico now trying to make plans for the future.

Thanks for your help fellow members.

Jim Hutchinson
