hi I'm a new member looking for help with online defacto visa

Hi everyone,
I am applying from overseas and am living with my Australian boyfriend we have been together for 5 years and have a child together. Initially I started to fill out the forms on paper but now I can apply online im going to do it that way instead. I just wanted to know if I would be better off getting my health & police checks done prior to lodging it or should I submit it and wait to be asked?
Thanks in advance!
