Thumbs up Hi all from Scotland

Hello everyone just joined today looking forward to talking to you all. Myself and my family were meant to emigrate last year but i fell through due to a change in skills list . We had every thing in place house, schools and even a job however i am a scaffolder/supervisor but it got removed from list . The company (based in adelaid ) tried everything but unfortunetly it didnt work. This didnt hurt our love for australia and we hope one day to be able to realize our dream but for now its just through chat.
Many thanks
Jamdon

Hi Jamdon - that's really sad.......I'm glad that you don't hate Australia. Hang in there, and explore all options - can you or your spouse qualify for Student Visas? Any other type of visa? Good luck!!!!!!

Hi jamdon,
That's tough going for you and the family and I do not want to give false hope and I know the classifications for 457 employer sponsorships did get significantly cut back last year to have included only occupations considered to be trade or equivalent and above in level of training but with all the further changes that have been made this year, on the latest list - http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/ensol.pdf second from bottom P16 is
Quote:
4999-79 Tradesperson and Related Workers (nec)
If you still have contact with the company that was interested in you, it might be worthwhile having them contact Immi to see if the related workers [ nec = not eleswhere classified ] would include scaffolding/supervisor.
Obviously there're Australian tickets etc. as you have in Scotland and you may have already had assessment with Vetassess which would be a preliminary step.
That list was only released July01 so no real harm can be done in having it checked.

Have you tried Queensland? As a result of the floods and Cyclone Yasi there is masses of work for those in the building trades - and some trades are being sorted very quickly through Immigration we have been told.
