Hi there..

Hi,

Names Dee. Flying into Perth on 10th of January 2011, with my girlfriend. Im from Newry in Northern Ireland. Work is very quiet over here. Only decided to make the move a couple of months ago. Applied for WHV, booked flights and am ready to rock.

Really looking forward to the trip. A break from the daily grind and hopefully the rain too.
We plan to hit Perth for a couple of months and then maybe head to Cairns and do the east coast. I know a few people in Brisbane and Sydney.

Had a quick browse through this site and there is plenty of good info about.

Roll on January !!

Dee

Hi Dee, welcome to the forum and though all of Australia will be extra warm from January through February and into March, you may want to head east first and leave it until at least towards the end of April before heading up Cairns way as March is about peak wet season time for the north and very humid uncomfortable weather with perhaps even more rain than NI.
Also more chance of work keeping down around the south for that time of year.
Make sure to keep well protected from the sun.

We've nothing set in stone as to where/ when were going to go travelling. We'll probably know a bit closer to the time. I've been doing quite a bit of research on it. Thanks for that shout!
I have taken the sun screen advice on board from a few people.

On the plus side, an uncle of mine is flying to Perth this coming Saturday. His permanent visa was approved on Thursday. He'll be working up the west coast, 3 weeks on 1 week off, and will be getting set up with an apartment in and around Perth city, so accomodation and a few cold beers hopefully awaits.
At least it will give us a bit of time to get ourselves set up.

14 weeks today !
