Even the contributory parent visas have a substantial wait unfortunately bernadete and you can get more information @ http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/fami...priorities.htm .
I think you will get advised of a queue date and I would not be surprised to see that as the date your credit card was debited.
If you get organised to move earlier, you will probably find that you could be granted a 12 months tourist visa and if that has no No Further Stay condition on it you may even be able to apply for another on its expiry or alternately take a trip across to New Zealand and apply again for another.
You may even find that a 12 months tourist visa is granted with 12 months from a latest enter by date and that could be a significant time from date of grant and so that will allow you to enter as soon as you have it and then take a trip to return just before the latest enter by date and so have another 12 months.
If it is the 143 PR visa, you will see that there is a reference to a tourist visa grant by ministerial intervention and it could be worth your son enquiring what that actually means for it may offer something along the lines of what I have suggested but simplify it.

If you are in Australia when the visa grant is to be made you will need to take a trip abroad to allow it to be granted, though again the ministerial intervention may waive that.

CPV Queue

Hi Bernardete

We lodged our CPV applications with Perth in May last year. We were advised that they have a 15 month backlog and we hope a case officer will be allocated by August this year. We understand that once a case officer is allocated, as long as there are no problems with our application, our visas could be granted in 3 months.
