Post Pommie WH to DeFacto

Hey there,

Just wanted to say hi.

Currently nearing the end of a 2 year working holiday visa. Going for my medicals tomo so that I can apply for my DeFacto visa in January.

Have applied for my Police check in the UK. Not sure if self and partner need to get same for Australia?

Assume I will be put on a bridging visa as my DeFacto will only go in days before my WH will expire.

You do need to get a police check for Australia bear and they can take a while, even possibly a backlog to get finger prints depending on where you are if you haven't already had them for the UK check.
Aussies do not need police checks as sponsors.
Anyway, good luck with it and yes, you'll have a bridging visa that kicks in when the WHV expires and until a decision on the partner visa.

Hi there Wanderer,

Thanks for speedy reply. Did some reading after so will get the Aussie police check rolling too. Have never had fingerprints taken so that'll be sonething new!!

I had been really worried about the visa a few months ago but am a lot calmer now. Have spoke to a few people that have done it and how the system has changed over the years. But it's pretty evident we are a couple & I think that plus all the correct documentation should make it easy for Immi.

Will update you as I go.

Actually, it could be that you may not need the prints for it is something the US people need for their checks from over there, so just follow the procedure on the site re AFP requirements.

For the AFP check you need to send them a postal order for $43 or $45 calling them will confirm and the immi site tells you the code to put in. For the partner visa no fingerprint is required but could be something requested later. Dont waste $150 if its not needed.

Update

Hi there,

I have my UK Police check and Medical back. Just waiting on my Aus Police Check but I only recently sent this.

Been reading some of the posts and Visa Processing seems to have sped up a little.

Looking forward to posting it all in a few weeks and then crossing my fingers!
