New to the Forum

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and happy that I joined. There is a lot of information about the immigration process on here and it has been very helpful. My husband is Australian and last year we completed the immigration process here in the states. My husband has been here in the states for about two years and we have decided to look into relocating our family to Australia. He is still a citizen there and his entire family is there as well.

To make a long story short my husband is disabled and here in the states because of our current "Medical Insurance Mess" he would not receive the care he needs. He isn't entitled to any medical assistance through the state and has been denied private insurance three times because of his pre-existing conditions. We would loose our home and basically be left homeless in order to pay for his medical bills.

We have one child together (8 months old) and I have a daughter from a previous marriage (9 years old) who my husband is adopting, so that will not be a problem with her relocating because we do not need her biological father's permission.

I have never been to Australia so we are flying there so I can meet his entire family and see Australia before relocating there. To say I am nervous about this whole thing is an understatement. Moving to a different state is a huge decision let alone moving to an entirely different country, especially with children and two cats, lol.

I love my husband very much and know in my heart this is the right thing to do for him and for our family. I'm Italian and have been raised in a big Catholic family so it is going to be very hard for me to not be by my family and share all the Holidays with them, but I do have my husband, my two girls and his family to spend the holidays with and that makes me extremely happy.

I already know I am going to be very homesick and wanted to know if anyone on here knows any other American's in that area. I mean no disrespect to Aussies, love you guys, I married one, lol. But it would be nice to meet a few Americans. My husband and I have met several Aussie's here in the states through a visa forum for Americans who married Aussies and reside in the states and we have formed really good lasting friendships that hopefully will last a lifetime. I was hoping to do the same in Australia as well.

Thank you for reading this and I look forward to visiting Australia and moving there as well.
