Demand for electricians like a lot of building trades rises and falls with the building industry activity and that can be something of a YoYo at times.
With a lot of flood and cyclone damage in Queensland and some flooding in Victoria, I think you could expect to find plenty of work in coming years on East Coast of Oz where about 90% of the pop. lives between say SA and Queensland.
Resources projects in WA and Queensland are also big demanders of tradespeople.

As an electrician, you'll find that as well as getting your qualifications approved by Trades Recognition Australia - Home and on arrival to Australia once having a visa you'll need to do an Australian Wiring Regs course as well as get registered in a state and that'll mean you will need to work under supervision for 12 months and that is something of a restriction re some employers being prepared to employ.
