Wink I'm an Aussie

G'day all, I'm an Aussie,
I am married to a lady made in China, we applied for a subclass 309 visa in November 2010. The case officer wrote in January that the current Service standard for Partner applications lodged in China is 10 months. I would be interested in any information from someone with recent experience regardinging a visa from China as I haven't seen any yet. Application was submitted to Guangzhou. Are we likely to receive approval before then? Explain the works "service standard". Is it true that the doctors report is only good for one year and then you must re-apply?

Hi Malcolm 46, I guess you saw the Visas and Immigration forum here? Maybe you'll find more replies if you repost this over there. You could also try a Google for China-related posts.

Apparently any processing time you are quoted means very little. There is huge variation in individual cases. Plus they drag their heels if approvals threaten to overshoot their budgeted level. If you look in the Visas and immigration section there is a timeline thread which gives some anecdotal evidence, if you have the time to wade through it.

Yes doctor's report (and police check) is considered current for one year, and has to be current at the point you make first entry to Australia under the visa.

Am in a rush but wanted to reply as I saw no-one else has yet
