Red face Hoping for a warm welcome... :)

Hello everyone!

I'm quite new to these kind of things so I'm hoping for a warm welcome. I'm planning to immigrate to Australia as soon as I am able to. My father's acquaintance (who has been living in Australia for a year or two now) referred me to this site, although I'm not sure if he's registered here or not.

You could ask "Why not the USA? Maybe the UK?" seeing as those are a more "popular" destination for immigration or so I heard. I don't think I can give a straight answer to this no matter how much I'd like to. Better job oppurtinities and higher salary are one thing. Many country can offer that. But not many can offer such rich environment, vast flora and fauna. By that I don't only mean the comical kangaroos, cuddly koalas or tiny kiwis. 216 frog species are native to the country. Each one unique on it's own way. Australia offers around 850 reptile species, if I remember correctly. More than 200.000 insect species can call it their home. Just a small comparison: My home country, as beautiful as it is, has 12 native frog species of it's own. 216 vs 12 Crazy numbers right there.

Having huge national parks and forests combined with a relatively warm weather gives Australia a permanent summer vacation feeling. No winter with -15 Celsius and knee-high snow on the streets, making you regret waking up in those days. Every weekend is perfect for hiking and taking a peek at the local wildlife, just what I love to do, no matter where I live.

A little about myself: I'm a female student living and learning in Hungary, turning 19 in June. I have an affinity to writing poems and short stories, drawing with traditional media and reading every book I can get my grubby little hands on. I'm also interested in wildlife and it's preservation, aquaristics and terraristics. I share the flat with my loving parents, who have been living in a happy marriage for 20 years now, two adorable little sisters and two cats who think way too highly of themselves. I also had frogs before and planning to adopt one again. It will be an Australian Green Tree Frog and seeing as the sexes can only be told apart during mating season, I might have to look for a unisex name. Ideas are welcomed.

I want to start on the immigration process and I hope this site and it's users can help me by sharing their experiences, what-to-do and what-not-to-do lists and the like. First things first: I'm going to write an e-mail to a well known intermediary/middle man (not sure how it is called in English) asking about this. Problem is, never in my short life have I written an official letter. So if you have any ideas on what phrases should I use or what information should I list about myself, it would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Smiling Frog
