Moving from Alaska to NSW

Hi. I'm new here. I'm a US citizen married to an Aussie citizen. My husband is originally from NSW. We've been married almost 5 years are are considering relocating back to Australia due to the US economy.

I have 2 children from a previous marriage. My son is 19 and my daughter is 10. I have full custody of my daughter. Obviously she will be coming with us.

I am a registered nurse with an Associates of Applied Sciences in Nursing degree (ASN). The nursing profession is being affected by the economy with hospital closures and such here in the US.

How is the economy truly doing in Australia? Will I have difficulty obtaining a nursing position with my two-year degree vs. a four-year degree in nursing? How difficult will it be for my husband to sponsor my daughter, my adult son if he decides to follow, and myself?

My husband is a legal permanent resident of the US with no restrictions on his Visa at this time. I know these are specific questions. I really appreciate any input

Thank you!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer and family,

Welcome to the site. I know exactly how you feel with the economy going bad in the states. Lived there all my life and got out over eight years ago myself.
For a lot of the information you need you should get some good answers right here. Would also suggest that your husband visit with the Australian embassy where you are for anything else.
Hope you'll keep us all posted as you get closer to the big move.

Gene
