Hi guys, need some help plz :)

I'm NZ citizen and would like to immigrate to Australia. I'm thinking about applying for 186 Direct Entry Stream.

My understanding is that I need to get employer nomination (3-6 months) then apply for visa.

However as NZ citizen, I can already legally work in Australia. So my question is that can I work for the employer in Australia while waiting for nomination and then apply for 186 visa?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Yes, you can. You will get a subclass 444 visa on arrival. You have full work rights.
Thanks for the reply. I was looking at AU immigration website and saw this
"
The Direct Entry stream is for:

  • people who have been nominated by their employer under the Direct Entry stream
  • people who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia, or
  • temporary residents who do not qualify for the Temporary Residence Transition stream.
"

It sounds like its only available for people who never worked in Australia before. It is quite confusing for me.
