Hi all,

I've lodged a 189 PR application while I was onshore and my spouse offshore, so only I was granted a bridging visa. I've been told it is not possible to grant a permanent residency if one applicant is offshore and the other onshore, meaning they both should be either offshore or onshore.

I was wondering if this is true, what should I do in this situation and how can I get around it.

Thanks :)

Much appreciated :)

It is not true.
A 189 can be granted onshore or offshore.
From what you posted, you do not have a problem.
Thank you so much, Russell, for the response. Here is what I was told.

It is ok if;
Wife & husband are onshore
Wife & husband are offshore

But there is a problem if ;

Wife is offshore & husband onshore or vice versa

Cheers
