I need some help and clarity.

I have been awarded 2.5 years of work experience in my selected field which means I am 6 months short of the 3 years required for the extra 5 points. I am currently working in Australia in my field and not far off getting the extra 6 months. However, my agent is saying that I would have to work a year or more in Australia in my field to get the extra points. (It's 6 months overseas experience, or 1 year Ausralian experience).
Is this true?
I have spoken to vetasses and they will issue me my extra 6 months but apparently it's the immigration department that will not allow just 6 months.
What's the difference in working abroad to Australia?

The only other way for making up the points is IELTS test and getting 8s across the board, but I keep missing the writing test by 0.5.

Any suggestions? I'm only 5 points short.

Your migration agent is correct. You can't top up overseas work experience with time in Australian, or vice versa.
