Hi, I'm an Australian living in Québec Canada.

My Canadian girlfriend is applying for her spouse Visa to Aus and I would like to register us as De Facto in Victoria. It looks like I would have to do this in person which isn't possible right now.

Is there something else I can do from overseas?

We've been living together for over a year in Canada. But I just want as much solid evidence as I can get to prove our relationship.

Can you register a relationship in Canada? It doesn't count for waiving the 12 month period but can be used as extra evidence of your relationship.

Great. So we don't have to be married or even registered. We just need to prove we have been living together for 12 months. With an ongoing committed relationship and all the rest.

I saw that Victorian De Facto registration website too. But one of us has to prove that we are living in Victoria. Which we are not. And won't be until we get the visa.
