Sole custody from info given would be a doubtful given the one month time frame, I would expect it to be dragged out through the courts for many months. Friends of mine were given minor amounts of custody after lengthy battles and years later they are still at the courts, it needs to be something serious to get nil custody rights - 2 days a fortnight seemed a common thing years ago.
I have full custody rights of my 3 (now 2 one is 18) but it is just an agreement between me and my first ex-wife - I don't restrict any visitations between the kids and their mother. But this agreement while recognised by ATO and Centerlink and others is not legally binding.
Centerlink did inform me to obtain Child Support from my ex, but I obtained a waiver from that (medical grounds) so she is not required to pay Child Support.
