Hi there,

My 457 visa has recently been refused on the grounds that "the nominated occupation is not consistent with the nature of the business", I went through an agent and they have said there is nothing more I can do as it is the nominee that has been refused not me. Is there any opportunity to appeal or is this not possible because it is a visa they are getting rid of?

Also if I was to look to doing a student visa in the future as I want to study events, would this likely be refused too because of the 457 situation? I have done my WHV in the past and farm work etc and these were all fine.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi WRussell thanks for your reply. Yes a registered migration agent.
Unless the sponsor appeals the nomination refusal, there is probably nothing much you can do. Your agent would be best placed to explain this to you, as they have access to all the relevant information. They should also be able to explain to you, if you have any other options. It is impossible to further advise you without having all relevant information at hand. Your RMA would be the best person to advise you.
