Hi,
Just a further question. My partner is on a 457 which expires in 2019 but her existing contract ends at the end of this financial year. If she is not able to renew her contract and the company withdraws her sponsorship, does the bridging visa A automatically kick in?

I have received some information that this is not that case if the 457 visa terminated rather than expiring and I'm rather worried.

Thanks

To answer my own question; yes.

The BVA visa is tied to the 457; if the 457 is cancelled then the BVA is cancelled with it.

Correct - assuming the visa is canceled.

I was on a 457 - applied for 820 - got made redundant - was in breach of the remaining in work clause - immigration decided not to cancel my visa for over 9 months and then granted the 820.

Although I never got to be on the BVA and didn't have work rights, I was able to remain in Australia until the decision was made.

If you do get cancelled you will end up on a BVE.
