Hi there,

I am Australian and my partner (Italian) had his 801 approved in Nov 2017 - he is now eligable to apply for residency and I am really confused how to do this.

All google searches point me to the direction of starting an 801/820 application, which we have already done.

In Immigov, there is the following notice;

'Important information
Applicants who are granted the temporary visa will be eligible for consideration for permanent residence 2 years from the date this application was submitted.

This application has been finalised. Please refer to correspondence.'

However I dont know where to go from here, I have looked all over immigov and cant seem to find where to start the application.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thankyou!

801 is a permanent visa. If this has been granted, there is no need to do anything, noting that travel restrictions apply after 5 years.

If an 820 has been granted then you need to send the documents for an 801 two years from the date of the 820 application. Do not rely on receiving a reminder from immigration about this.

I suggest that you carefully read your visa grant letter and if you are not clear, consult a registered migration agent.
