12 months is a big ask.

Realistically you would find yourself travelling back and forth from Australia on multiple BVB's until the department decides not to grant them.

I'd be inclined to pass up on the job and get my visas in order first.

There's multiple strategys you could go with none of them are definite and have their own risk elements.

Just don't forget you've still got the processing time and then the PMV time to go so it will probably be mid 2019 or later before your visa is even coming up for expiry - at that point you may only need a short BVB if it's only a 1 year contract. (Your probably looking at 6 -14 months before it's granted and then 9 months visa validity)

That may be a good plan as Mania said. Even if you marry earlier on into the PMV while offshore, you don't have to apply for the 820/801 straight away. You can always wait until the end of the PMV, maybe a couple of weeks before its expiry. Just be aware of whatever your "must not arrive after" date is if you're going to be offshore for most of the PMV. Then just apply for the BVB to leave again. You could get lucky and get a 6 month one.

Doesn't really matter when you apply as the BVA won't kick in until the 300 ends but if you're offshore for a while after activating the PMV, you can still marry. Just need to get back at some point to apply next stage.

Thank you!
Is there any way (on this forum or elsewhere) to check the current average processing times for visas issued from specific countries/offices rather than global processing times?
