Hi All

Myself and my partner plan on emigrating in December this year, I am entering on a 417 visa whilst he holds a permanent 190 visa.

The idea is to apply for the 820 after a few months of being in Australia, can anyone offer advice on where to start and what evidence has helped them secure the visa?

I've already started planning my folder system and will be getting together all my UK evidence (passport, birth certificate, CRB check etc) before we leave, but I'm not sure what else I can do without already being there.

Thanks!
Abi

Just some thoughts:

There is plenty of material out there on the basics of the sc. 820 visa, which you can read up on.

Have you declared the relationship in your respective visa applications? Could you not have been included in his visa at the time he applied?

As your partner will be a newly arrived permanent resident and not a citizen, he must be able to show that he is usually resident in Australia.

Don’t arrive at the airport with a suitcase full of documents.

Thanks for the reply.
I already held the 417 and he had already submitted his 190 application before we became a couple, so this was granted too early for me to be included.
No problem, thank you for the advice.
