Hi everyone and expert members of the forum!

I have a few questions regarding conducting medical examination (for me) and multiple police checks (for my partner) for the 820/801 De Facto Partner Visa in a situation when we are both currently offshore.

Here's our background:
- We dated from September 2014, started de facto May 2015 (opened joint account, declared relationship, etc) and moved in together June 2016.
- We applied online for 820/801 De Facto Partner Visa on 20 June 2017, frontloading all documents including my Malaysian police check and AFP police check (I was in Sydney for my masters back in 2008/2009) except for my Medical Examination.
- I applied for 2 Bridging Visa B due to change in travel schedule and was granted both times (most recently on 26 September 2017). I'm due to travel (for work) from tomorrow 13 October until 8 November.
- My partner is currently in Canada for an offshore project (he is a consultant), and he has been away since mid-August. We kept in touch, continued to plan our lives and upcoming holidays as any couples would.

Now, as the situation would have it - 14 hours before I'm due to fly out, I received an email from the immigration (apparently our visa is processed by Australian High Commision in Malaysia!) requesting further information for our 820/801 application in 28 days including:
- Medical check (for me)
- Polio vaccination (for me - I have traveled more than 3x to Africa due to work requirements)
- Character check for sponsor (Australia and Singapore/India - he has lived for more than a year in Singapore 2012-2013 for work and is from India)
- Form 40SP completed and signed by sponsor

As you can imagine, I'm in a state of overwhelm because I'm travelling for the next 3 and half weeks (basically cutting close the 28 days deadline) and my partner will not be back from Canada until mid-November.

So my questions are:
  1. - As my application is made onshore, is it possible for me to do my medical examination and polio vaccination in Malaysia when I'm away?
  2. - Does my partner need to provide police check for Singapore AND India or Singapore only? We will need to figure out how he can get that done while he's in Canada.
  3. - My partner has filled up the online Form 40SP application that was then linked to my application. Does he need to fill up the paper form as requested by Immi in latest correspondence?

I will need to clarify these questions with Immi themselves next week, but I thought I will share my concerns here for now and get your expert advice/experience to help me not worry so much as I want to spend some quality time with my parents and family when I'm back in Malaysia tomorrow! :)

Hi,

Imguessing you are from malaysia too? We lodge our application around the same time. And i also received an email a week ago asking for police check and medical checkup. I was surprised how quick they requested for it. And that our application is processed in Malaysia instead here in Australia.

Hopefully there will be good news after we submitted all the docs.

Hi there Hello2017!

Yes I'm from Malaysia. :) I wasn't expecting to hear from them so early too and did notice that my application is processed in KL which is interesting (but good news nonetheless).

Did you have to give them a lot of updated information?

Updated information about my application is on another thread. For some reasons, I couldn't find this post so posted a similar one. :p But I can't link it here because I'm a new member - just look under my usernme. :)

They only request 4 docs. For me, my medical checkup and police cert. and my partner AFP police cert and character check ( this is not applicable cos he never live in other countries for morethan 12 mths).I hope they wont be asking for more evidence on rship after we submitted the requested docs.

I tried to send you a private msg, but it appeared that you chose not to accept pm. Lol.

Do you know who is your CO? I assumei got mine as the email stated ..

"Yours Sincerely

Position Number 123456"

Did you get the same one?

Sure thing! It might take some time for my application to progress as my partner needs to do his biometric in Australia and he won't be back from Canada until mid-November. They also require 8 weeks for his India police check. But at least things are progressing.

Let's keep each other updated!

Hey! I received an email last night from Australia High Commission Malaysia and was surprised too that my application is processing in Malaysia. They requested for my health examination and my husband's Malaysia police check. I have the same question too if I can have my health check in Malaysia (I lodged my application online onshore) because I will go back to Malaysia in 2 weeks time and considering the fee is cheaper in Malaysia.

Yeah! Good idea :) I dint know we can get the police check from malaysia embassy here. Keep thinking that I can only collect in Malaysia. Luckily enough, my husband's previous police check is still valid (after checked with my CO) so I dont have to reapply. And CO said I can have my health check done in Malaysia too. What a relief!

Oh my CO has different name and yes I emailed him the same night I received the email (it was yesterday night). And then unexpectedly, I received his reply this afternoon. So efficient! Dint expect to receive a reply so soon though. Was so worry whole night till I cant fall asleep.

The whole processing was kind of quick as I never expect to receive an email from them asking to provide health check this fast. I submitted my 820 application early last month and yesterday I was received email to provide health check.

Hi Ariesle,

Sorry for the late reply! I did my medical examination in Malaysia at Life Care Diagnostics (the only DIBP panel in KL), the whole process took about 2 hours and results were released within 5 working days. I've got my results and didn't need to do anything else, which is a relief!

I also requested for my Police Check through Malaysian embassy in Perth, only took about 2 weeks for the Internal Affairs ministry to approve online and the letter was produced immediately when I presented the confirmation to the embassy.

I hope all is well for you!

We had to do Singapore/India police check still for my partner which is taking time, so fingers crossed!
