Hello team AF.

You are wonderful, just finishing off our statements for 820. Should our future plans include plans to marry or does that go against the reason for applying for a defacto visa? I am unsure about this.

Can someone also clear up this SP47 and SP40 issue. I am under the impression that SP47 is to be filled out online rather than uploaded (which i will do) BUT what about the 40SP sponsors form. Is that available to fill in online (when the accounts are linked) or is it easier to fill in and upload?

Finally our application will be decision ready (everything will be done, health and police as well as all docs) is there a place that you can say that to your potential CO?

I am sure I will add to these questions as we start to upload over the weekend. Timeline to follow aswell, hoping I can help potential applicants with general questions!

Keep up the good work.

You can just complete the application to sponsor a partner form online. It is far easier than printing the form and signing and scanning it.

With medicals and police checks just be aware you risk having to redo them if they pass 12 months (some case officers extend them and others don't).

Thanks Mish, I think we will upload all docs and take the hit of redoing if need be. Any thoughts on the marriage question. We intend on marrying in our time but not sure whether the 820 option is strictly for people who don't want to get married? Should we mention marriage in our future plans statement?

Yes definitely mention marriage. You can be de facto and engaged or plan to marry at the same time. Talking about marriage shows your future plans so it is definitely worth a mention.

Application started! I am sure the answer is somewhere for this question but thought i would ask here...'Date committed de facto relationship began' is the question I am up to....is this referring to when my partner and I started living together? Technically a defacto relationship is after 12 months of living together??

Started to live together on June 1st 2014...12 months of living together later and it is June 1st 2015. any thoughts on which date I should use here?

Mish thank you for taking the time with these questions. we have just paid. My partner is now questioning the 'linking sponsor bit'

Her question is should she be creating a new immi account to then start a 'sponsor an application'

OR

Logging in on My Immi account (applicants immi account) to then start a 'sponsor and application'

Is there any difference? I have seen it suggested that both applicant and sponsor should use the same login to immi account. what is the reason behind this?

Thanks again.

Still posting question hoping to get answers to people who have experienced the online apps..I am going to include a contents page on our application, how do i reference documents on the sponsors application? will they all show up all at once for our CO or will i have to explicitly say 'sponsors application document ....'

She can either use your account or create one, it doesn't matter either way. We just used the same immi account.

It really isn't necessary for a contents page unlike paper applications. With online applications you have categories etc where you are marking what the attachments are. Also remember you only have a specific number of upload slots so best to put them to good use.

So more questions!!!! is there anyway I can notify immi that it is a decision ready application i know there is a document option which we will use is this the only way?!

Other question is, online application photo requirements, would I be able to take a passport photo myself to upload? quicker and easier compared to paying $$$.

anyone else done this?

Thanks

Hi David, if you upload your police and medical checks, they will see that it's a decision-ready application, but as far as I know there's no way to inform them besides that. They won't look at it any sooner unfortunately!
We considered taking our own passport photos, ended up paying for them purely because of convenience but I'm sure taking your own would be fine as long as they conform to normal passport photo standards

Hi,

Congrats on the beginning of your partner visa application. Tbh with the current processing times and such decision ready applications do not really speed up your application process however that is your own preference. I applied on the 3rd of July 2014 and got my 820 grant on the 1st this month. I did not provide my health check up till my case officer asked for it a month ago. Tho i had provided my police checks upon application and they expired and i was lucky my case officer never asked for new ones.

With online applications there's categories for everything hence once you have uploaded them your case officer can see them hence no need for a table of contents and cover letter type thing unlike paper applications. Good luck :)

Love all the comments coming in very much helping me decided what the next steps to take are...

another question I have if anyone can jump on this is uploading more evidence as time goes on? Will a potential CO see more recent evidence and think we aren't ready to assess or is it beneficial to show we are continuing?

Thoughts?
