Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share with you all the timeline of myself and my partner’s application for a de facto visa, since I have spent a lot of time on this forum searching for much needed answers/translations from legal jargon!
I’m from the UK, my partner is Australian by birth. We had only been together for a year before we lodged our application, which I think might be why it took so long, but who knows.
January 7th 2017 - Lodged application including passport details, birth certificates etc, but most of our evidence was uploaded afterwards and as it happened
January 13th 2017 - Granted bridging visa A
May 2017 - Completed health check in Melbourne, as instructed to by DHA
October 2018 - Request for more information (new police check as initial one had expired)
November 2018 - Temporary stage granted, finally
December 2018 - permission to apply for permanent stage
It’s been a loooooong, frustrating road, but relieved I can finally travel freely without applying for another bridging visa in case anything were to happen at home.
So yeah, all up, 23 months to get to temporary.
