Just a quick update! :) We've applied for our 820 visa on 30 Sept 2015 and I logged into my immi account last week to see that our application has been placed in queue.

I've uploaded the medical & police checks with my application in September.

Tempoarary visa

Hey guys,

we applied/ lodged in our application form on the 3/11/2014.
In January I added my medical test to my application form.

The end of November 2015 I have received an email from the government (team 4 :D) to please provide my australian police certificate and my german original police check ( in german of course).
Both of those documents have been already in my online application, which i told them in an email and attached both documents again!

On the 8/12/2016 I received another email saying that I am right.
2h later I was on my temporary visa :D:D:D

Now I can´t wait to receive my PR the end of this year!

But maybe someone can help me with just a couple of questions!

1. ;y partner and I are going on a holiday to Germany in 4 weeks and I am unsure atm what I have to do to leave the country and especially can return to Australia without any problems?!
In my acknowledgements for the temp visa it just says that I am allowed to travel till a decision is made in November and just let know the government that I leave and details to get in touch just in case!
How did you guys travel on the temporary visa?!

2. I have read a few times now that that people where saying about filling out another form for the PR while they are on a temporary visa?
I thought I already did this in all my forms when I lodged my form in nov 2024?!
Or does the government get in touch with me before my 2 years are over after lodging the application?! (it was just confusing reading about it and not knowing if I miss something (again!:D)!!!

Thans guys:cool::cool::cool::eek::eek::eek:

Hello,
I applied for the 820 partner visa on 24th December 2014. This was handed in to the immigration office in Sydney. I received an e-mail back quite quickly asking me to undertake my medical at the BUPA facility in Sydney which was completed before the end of December 2014. The police check from the UK was then sent in January of 2015. I received an e-mail in August which was automatically generated saying that I had moved forward in the queue but that is the only correspondence that I have so far received.
We have been together since November 2011 and married in November 2014 and had our first child in November 2015 (everything seems to happen in November, except for the visa....) All evidence has been sent and the relationship was originally registered in 2013 as well as we always planned on going through with the defacto option.
I am currently on a 457 visa and I have been employed with the group since 2011 but the current visa runs out on the 24th May 2016. I appreciate that it would go on to a bridging visa but I am starting to get incredibly impatient with the whole process. It has now been 14 months for what should be quite a straight forward application. I'm also wondering how the applications are considered. It appears to suggest that applications are considered in date order from when the application was lodged except for in other circumstances that can lead to it being fast tracked. As glad as I am to see others on forums being approved, it also leads me to ask the question why somebody who has applied in February of 2015, onshore, for the same visa is approved before me.
When I originally lodged the document I was told 9-12 months. That quickly turned 12-15 months and now I am hearing 15-18 months from others.
Is anybody else in the same position?

I applied 30 December 2014 for 820 paper in Sydney. Medical and police done in Jan 15. Progress up the queue sept 15. I sent more documents in Feb 16. Heard nothing. On 457 from UK. done 3.5 years on 457 but can't apply for ENS 186 PR unless I work for 4 years with the same employer on 457. So I spoke with
The agent and my employer. Over the next 48 hours, if I don't 820 I will withdraw 820 and go with another 457 then 186. It is easier and shorter but much quicker. Any thoughts???

My current 457 expires in October 2016. Planning to apply for another 457 with same employer in July 16. Hopefully issued in 3 months. Then in November 16, I would have passed the 4 years mark with the same employer so I. An apply for 186 which takes 5 months to be issued. So by April may 17 I should get PR. If I continue on 820 then I can't apply for 801 before January 17 and it takes 12-15 months which means April 18.

I assume you're over 50 and that's why you can't apply for the 186 earlier?

I'm not sure if I'd withdraw the 820 application. You don't get a refund, but I guess you have complications with the timing. If the 457 is approved first, and then the 820, that'd replace the 457 and leave you ineligible for the 186. Then you're still waiting for the 801 which, as you've said, could take another couple of years.

186 visas are taking 6-7 months at the moment, but you'd have a PR visa quicker than waiting for the 801.

Thanks Maggie. U r right I am over 50. If 820 is issued I lose my right for 457/186 route. I am 9 months away from applying to 186 and it takes 6 months therefore, in 15 months from now, may 17 hopefully get my PR. but with 820/801 I will wait for 15 months from my eligibility date of applying to 801 hany 17 for another 15 months which takes me to may 18.

Hi daveykeeg,

I am also in the same position. I applied through a migration agent on 20/12/2014 and have not received any contact apart from the generic email to say our application has been transferred to the Perth office (October 2015).
I spoke with our Migration Agent approximately 1 week ago and she said in December 2014 she lodged 6 applications for that month where only 1 lodged on 06/12/2014 was approved so far. So it seems that the approvals are coming in date order, however with regards to why applications lodged in 2015 are being approved so much quicker is still a question I continue to ask as well.

we are currently 14 months and 5 days since application date completed online.

Hi there! Im in almost the exact same boat as you. I applued onshore online myself on 24th December 2014. I recieved a generic email also stating that our application had been transferred to the Perth office! I called up last week to see where the application was and if a CO had been assigned and she said it had been transferred again to a QLD office!! And that there were multiple case officers looking at my file. I then called up against to ask a seperate question, but wanted to be aure if what they were saying was true. The next person I spokenwith said they couldnt give me anymore information other than thatbit was stil within the 15months waiting time.

So I emailed partner.visa.qld and I got an email back from an office in NSW?!? Stating that my application would not reach the cue for another couple of months.

I think its possible that Immigration got flooded with applications before the prices went up in January, and they tried to spread those out so that not one office in particular would be overwhelmed. Just a theory!

Can I ask about the email adress you mentioned? And what you write in the email? Just tell them our application number?

Thanks
