Yeah, I was thinking that too in my paranoid state yesterday.

The problem is, some of the people telling me on this forum I may have made a grave error are migrant agents. So I take the criticism seriously.

This morning I'm not as worked up over it, as I've slept off the jetlag and stress of it all. I think we'll be fine. Yes we have a kid together and will have another one in Jan, our commitment to each other is clear.

A work visa for my wife just wasn't applicable in our situation. Not much work for pregnant, Italian lawyers in Australia...

BTW, has anyone ever considered that DIBP agents could actually be members in this forum and monitoring the threads to see what people are up to? I just thought it's a bit risky the posts people put and info given. Won't DIBP monitor and consider those scenarios in applications? Just my thoughts.

I have said a few times that DIBP would be crazy not to monitor this forum, there have been a number of posters that clearly are looking to find a way to get any permanent visa including fake marriages. Information given like country, age, gender and months and years is very easy for DIBP to match to a application.

I think MarcelluuS will probably be ok due children, but I would not recommend to others. Yes the door was left open, but no need to kick it down - walk in slowly, so it does not get slammed shut on others is my suggestion.

I am sure the rules are flexible based on the situation.

Quite some years ago in my last marriage, i had to come into Australia on a visitor visa and immediately applied for permanent stay to be able to stay with my Australian wife and child.
I used the ETA to avoid the offshore options but immigration accepted it.

Many people on a PMV application, including us, are able to apply for a Visitor visa to stay in Australia before getting the PMV and then applying for the onshore 820.
We specified our reason as being able to stay in Australia while we sort out permanency.

I am sure they look at the available information and decide accordingly.

They do not appear to enforce the "tourism only" rule blindly.

I noticed your time line shows you can get 801 2 yrs after lodgement of the 820? So thats how it works, after you submit it, not from the time accepted? Thats awesome if so!

Thats how I read it. I think i got it right.

About two years after you lodged your application for this visa, you will be assessed for a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).

Just some questions regarding our application.
Applied on the 21st feb 2016 and Bridging visa granted same day.Still no case officer yet,is this normal ?

My mother was a witness on the already uploaded form 888 and has since passed away, should I amend this now or wait till I get a case officer, or can her statement still be used even though deceased?

Many have said not to do medicals or police checks until a case officer is assigned as they expire,is this still the status quo or should we be doing this now as we have already been waiting for 8 months ?

Lastly my partner was unwittingly an overstay in China for 18 months.Long story, she is Filipina and her work agent and employer held her passport from her whilst telling her she had all correct visas. She did not, and was subsequently voluntary detained for 21 days then asked to leave China when her contract ended. Her detention was all done with the assistance of the Philippines Consulate in Guangzhou. No charges or blacklists of China were recorded against her.Our problem is, as she was never a temporary residence of China they wont issue a Police Clearance and this is a requirement for our application. Can we ask a waiver for this and if so are they usually successful ?

P.S I am the Australian sponsor/partner.

Regards Ron

Hi Ron

As for the CO, that's pretty normal, I've applied 12 months 17 days ago on 30-Sept-2015 and I haven't heard anything except a general email 12 weeks ago. Nothing else, unfortunately, as the processing times are 12-15 months...

Hey renekara - I applied early November, and I've not had a generic email yet. October applicants seem to be the latest that I've seen on these forums who have received a generic email a few weeks ago, so hopefully it's just they haven't done this for later applicants yet (unless you've seen otherwise?)

Hey guys,

Anyone on this forum that has applied for 820 in November/December 2015 and got the generic email asking to provide more info?

I did my medical and police check at the beginning, but I am bit concern that I haven't been contacted at all from immigration. (Except the acknowledgement letter and bridging visa when I first applied)

I am freaking out now...

Thanks

Hi AussieUK2015,

Thanks for your reply.

I haven't seen anyone from Nov/Dec getting the generic email...
I hope they won't leave our applications for next year.

Have you provided all the documents with your application? I don't know if this is making any difference....

Can you please share if there are any updates?

Cheers

I was just wondering how many others here are also in the waiting phase after applying for the 820 onshore - where are you from, where did you apply, did you go for a subclass 300 first?

How has your experience been so far, and what are the things you worry about? How long have you been waiting?

Just a thread for people in 'the same boat' (although we're all very different) - mods if this isn't an appropriate thread (because the information can mostly be found through Timeline Search) please feel free to adjust, close or delete! I'm just curious who else out there is (still) waiting, since both applicants I knew have been granted before me!
Hi, I applied for the 820 back on the 27th of September and I haven't done the form 80 yet and I'm waiting on my AFP name check. It's nerve wracking. I've uploaded too many documents on mine so now I'm having to upload on my husband's 40 SP.

I'm up to about 54 uploads on mine. But other than passport pics and our itinerary from the US trip, oh, and the eye specialist letter once we get it, I'm done uploading. It's all good to upload to your husband's. I've uploaded a few on my partner's and on both of my kids' as well. Still haven't heard anything about my work rights (I'm on a BVC). Will be calling tomorrow, as it's been the 7 working days that they said to wait.

820 Visa approved!

Good Morning!
We received some awesome news today, our visa 820 has been granted.

We were asked for more information back in August and then we were asked to supply an updated passport scan yesterday, original file had been corrupted.

Now we have are holders of an 820 Visa.

We applied 9/9/2015 so what would have been 11 months, had we had enough info in August, became 13 months and 9 days since DOL.

We are ecstatic, time to celebrate!

On to the wait for PR Status!

Regards And Good Luck everyone!

Hi renekara

I will post up on here if I hear anything. I remember seeing people who had received a generic email who said they had received it despite having everything uploaded, so I don't think it makes a difference, it's probably an automatic process before they even begin to tackle those applications.

Good news! Got work rights today, and received my Medicare card in the post, as well. Been a great day for us. Now, we settle in for the looooong wait on the 820. But wanted to share the latest. I'm very happy, as is my son because now we can work. Woohoo!!!

Congrats Jim and Britt! So exciting.

I soooo hope to receive my 820 soon. We applied 03/08/2015 onshore so it has been almost 15 months now. Feeling pretty stressed by it all. We haven't heard a word from them at all. Fingers crossed and trying to stay positive! :)
