Hi,

I have been reading this forum for a while now.
I just want to share my timeline with you guys.

Lodged 820/801: 29/2/2016 together with AFP check online, Sydney.
Medicals: Submitted on August 2016.

Up until now still waiting for further orders.
Same as most of us here, I haven't received any emails from Immi since except of course the generic email we receive upon submitting the application.

More waiting and hopefully soon grants will come to us all.
hey plantronics!

Wish best of luck! :) to all of us

Hi Plantronics,

I applied mid January 2016 and haven't heard anything yet either. I just applied for another AFP police check as my previous one expired, and will upload it as soon as I get it. I hope the wait won't be too much longer!

Hi all,

We recently applied for onshore visa 820 and now going through the wait.
A couple of questions not really related to this thread but maybe someone can share some info.
We were married in Indonesia, all legal, registered and acknowledged under Australian Law. Wife doesnt have my surname yet as it doesn't happen automatically over there, long process. Can her name change be done in Australia to have my surname and thus all Australian documentation such as bank accounts etc will be under my surname? I realise that marriages in Australia can automatically have the wife to adopt the husbands surname. If it cannot be done easy then how about if we re-registered the marriage in Australia, then would it be almost like getting married here wouldn't it? Australian law now recognises overseas marriages if they are legal so it doesn't have to be registered in Australia now but I was just thinking for the sake of making the name change process easier.
Please no comments regarding why we want to change the surname etc...We have our reasons.

Congratulations!! :D Very happy for you after last week's conversation!

Where did you send your email to? I might email if I don't hear in the next couple of weeks. It's been 13 months nearly.
I sent the email to the address they contacted me from requesting new information, it was specific to Victoria I believe - just tried to look it up on my phone but my emails on my phone don't load back that far, sorry!

Ok so I applied in May 2016, onshore. Have submitted and completed all that has been asked of me. Have been assigned a case officer and now my status on my application says: Assessment in Progress. Hmmmm what does this mean?? Should I be worried? Spouse and I have been married 13 yrs, hoping not....LOL

Wow, that sounds pretty good if you ask me! It usually is a good sign if you get a case officer, and assessment in progress means someone is looking at it. That's more than I've got at the moment (still says 'received' at 13 months waiting, no case officer yet), so you may be lucky and get processed soon! Fingers crossed :)

Hey guys,

It's been 14 and a half months since I have applied and with my partner we decided to sent an email to immi asking for an update on our 820 application. We got an automatic reply and I thought I better share this with all of you who think to contact immigration regarding an update. Please see response below:

We are unable to provide progress reports for the first stage of your partner application (temporary Partner visa (subclass 820)), if your partner visa application was lodged less than 15 months ago. If your partner visa application was lodged more than 15 months ago, we will endeavour to respond separately to your request within approximately 2 weeks of your email.

That was their response with a bunch of other 28 topics that they don't respond to. Now I am wondering if I am going to get response, as it is going to hit the 15 months mark in 2 weeks. If I knew this I would've waited for another two weeks to send them an email.

Thank you for that information Renekara! I was thinking of emailing them myself, good to know there's no point for at least 6 more weeks :(. They should really update their website (it still says to email if you want an update after 13 months). Please keep us updated :), you should be almost there I hope!

820 is currently expected to be a 12 to 18 month wait. I would do my police checks and medicals around 9 months in, that way they are still valid at 21 months since application giving me average time +3 months buffer.

My AFP check has just expired as well. Guess it's time to renew.

It depends on the information it's requesting as to wether many people have received it. Some people get contact requesting things that are missing from the application by an administrator glancing over the application for completeness, others from a case officer that needs the requested info to make a final decision.

Others get a generic email that is automatically generated with generalistic info, that's what this looks like.

Really hope someone could help me with my questions here.
Thank you so much in advance!!!

1. Do we HAVE TO create two immiAccounts - one for applicant, one for Sponsor? As I can see after payment, on applicant's immiAccount, there is also a section for Sponsor to submit his documents.

2. Actually we did created two immiAccounts and now working on Sponsor's online form. Here is the question really bothers us.

Have you(Sponsor) visited any countries in the last 10 years?

Yes, he did - 3-4 times every year to Singapore, and other western countries as well.
The problem is he has been using e-Passport for a long time and it's impossible for him to remember all the dates for 10 years!

Do we have to list all the travel dates accurately when filling the online form? what will happen if we can't recall all the details or miss out some travels?

Thank you again!!
