Hello

Hi all, just wanted to say hi. I've been using this site as an awesome source of information for all my 3am mild anxiety attack what ifs and more legitimate questions.

My partner is English and we're about to launch into the 820/801 limbo game.

I feel excited and nauseous with all the what if we haven't done enough questions. But seeing so many people going through the same thing gives me some comfort.

It's been a long road of various hiccups for
Us along the way and I'm looking forward to it all being a distant memory :)

Today marks two weeks since I was asked for form 80. It's 10 days since I submitted it (submitted on the Thursday after requested on Monday). My husband's sponsorship has said "Approved" for most of that time.

Surely I must be getting my visa soon!!
I think you are getting your visa grant today or tomorrow :)

Hi,

I have been a persistent lurker in this forum and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions and advice- they have helped me get through some very stressful months!

I wanted to provide my stats as my visa 820 was granted on Friday! We were very fortunate to have a quick turnaround on ours- so I’m sorry if these might seem a bit frustrating to some, but hang on in there.

Applied: 8th August 2016, online NSW
Generic email requesting documentation received: 22nd February 2017
Medicals and police checks completed: 13th March 2017 (I did not complete a form 80)
Visa granted: 17th March 2017

I sent an email on the 14th of March advising them that I had uploaded the required documents and querying applying for a bridging visa to leave the country in May- I wonder whether this helped to bump us along the queue. Apart from the generic email, I received no contact from a caseworker and our application sat in ‘received’ for the whole duration.

If anyone wants any help or has any questions let me know, and good luck to everyone- I know how stressful it can be! Roll on visa 801…

Congratulations! That is very fast! You make me wonder whether I should send an email now... I'm going overseas in May too for a wedding. I hope to get the grant before we leave so I don't have to worry about it while I'm away.

Here's hoping! Maybe I should send them an email saying I've uploaded the documents even though it says not to and I pressed the button on my immi account.

Congrats on your visa ek068! That is fast! You're very lucky you didn't have to fill out form 80 - took me ages and I swear they already had 90% of the information anyway!

SharKs, I would definitely ask for an update prior to applying for a BVB. Don't want to spend about $150 if it's not necessary!

Hi SharKs

Sending an email it's not a bad idea. At least you will know where your application is at.

Hi Ruchika,

have you sent an email requiring an update on your application yet?
Hi Renekara

We finally got an answer This arvo. CO called my partner today to inform that our paperwork is all good. We just need to submit out joint bank account because she did not receive that. So tomorrow we will get an updated statement for our joint bank account and email her. After that it should not take much time :)

We have been waiting for 15 months and 12 days. We are happy that it is finally here :)

Hi All! Congratulations to all who received grants! That is always such a great thing to see! :D

It looks like there was some action on our application. I logged in tonight to add some documents. I've been putting additional stuff under my partner, as I reached the 60 upload mark under my name. But when I went to add documents, it states Approved next to his name and won't allow me to upload anything else to his portion. What does this mean? I haven't completed medicals yet, and we're still waiting on my son's state check (Alaska is soooo slow). Other than that, everything is uploaded.

Anyone know what it means when they put "Approved" next to the sponsor's name? It says the same both on my application (just where his name is...mine still says "received") and on his Sponsor application. Should I start organizing medicals? Or is this a standard thing?

Hello everyone!

We applied for 820 on 24/12/2015 in Perth WA on paper.
Today was first time we heard from them - request for further information. They want new police check, medicals, form 80 (grrrrrr)...

They also requested police check from my country of origin - Russia. I never bothered getting it as I've lived in Australia since I was 15 on different student visas so didn't think it applied. The only country for over 16 was Australia and I've done that check. It expired no worries, have another one ready.

So should I ask them or just apply for one? I'm only worried of the time it's going to take. Form 80 is so much pain. I was so young 10 years ago, how am I supposed to remember?

Also, is the person who sent this email our CO or just one of the workers?
We originally applied on paper, do we supply evidence on paper again?

Getting nervous now... oh well, still like 2.5 years till uni regardless :(

My husband's status has been saying approved since they asked me to submit form 80 (just over 2 weeks ago). I'd say your visa's not far off so maybe do your medicals.

Hoping mine gets approved today!

My partner from Colombia finally got her 820 visa last week, 4 days short of a year from when she applied. It took 6 months and 3 attempts to get her FBI clearance (fingerprint & credit card issues) but it eventually came through a few weeks ago. Within days of uploading it they contacted us for the last few remaining documents and health check, and a few days after uploading them the visa was issued!

Do you mean it's just unlucky if you get a lazy sod for a c/o? Or do you mean something else by that?

And what do you mean by previous visa? If you've had lots of visas previously it takes longer? I had two working holiday visas before I applied.

I also lived in Spain for a while (from the UK) so I'm wondering if that's slowing it down a bit.

Nothing yet today :( It's 12 days since I submitted form 80 and today being a Tuesday, I was feeling quite hopeful.

Oh that is awesome! I applied in WA online. But, I think mine is being processed in Victoria. However, I expected mine to be looked at a bit sooner, as I had to meet Schedule 3 criteria. Since they approved my partner, I'm hoping that means they accepted our Schedule 3 waiver rationale and will be asking for medicals soon. They requested the information for S3 in November, and I submitted it the very next day. Haven't heard anything since then. I already planned to do our medicals during the first school holiday, as I and my sons will be off school for 2 weeks. We have to travel to Perth for our medicals...so made sense to wait until then. We go on holiday in 2 1/2 weeks....but wondering if I should schedule now??

Have you heard anything on your grant yet, Arabella? I'd think you'll hear any day now, if they stay true to what everyone else on here has experienced. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! :)

No didn't hear today in the end :( Seriously hoping it's this week though! I wrote down 11 addresses for the last ten years though so if they're checking all those out it might take a while. Some of them don't exist any more and I doubt there's any record I ever lived there for a couple of them.

Maybe you'd be ok to wait until the holidays if they're not far away anyway and if they do contact you before then, you can just let them know you've got them booked. How difficult is it for you to get to Perth?
