Hi everyone, I applied for my partner visa around 2 months ago and I already started collecting more information for the 801. (seems easier to create the proof as they happen than look for them in 2 years) Would you recommend to upload them every 6 months to prove we're still together or wait the 2 years mark? Thanks :)

Hi,

I uploaded more evidence as I was waiting, when there were significant events. For instance when we bought a house together, when we went on a family holiday together, attended weddings and when we adopted a second dog together. I don't know if it was necessary, but mine got granted as soon as they looked at it. So don't know if I would recommend it, but if you are gathering evidence as you go it might not be too much effort to upload it (if you have space in your ImmiAccount).

hi all,
I applied for a BVB to travel out on April, the BVB said "must not arrive after 16/6/2017" so that meant my BVB was expired on 16/6 but yesterday when I checked on vevo, it still says my BVB in effect. Should I email them to change this status? or would this affect on my visa process?
Thanks,

15+ Mo Waiting - Tears + Frustration

Heya guys... it's me again. I calmed down a bit after my last ramble with some of you all in my frustrations.

However, today really just stirred up a whole bunch of frustration. This time... another person I know thru similar friendships posted to her FB that she's been granted her 820 after only 8.5 months of waiting. This is bullshit. They've been together for only a YEAR. How... just how is this right? She's been in Australia since 2014. No, she's not pregnant. No, not engaged.

I don't understand... I've been with my partner for over 3 years now and lived together for that long, too... and been in Australia for 3 years now. Supplied EVERYTHING under the sun and more than I can for the application online. All of this and I can't even get a CO assigned?!

I know there's people who have waited longer so far than me on here, but this is just so unfair and really ruins it for the genuine relationships out there.

Is this happening because she's from the UK? Is there some kind of relationship with AU? I'm not from a high-risk country... is it because my President is Trump now?! What is it!

Tears, anger, frustration, everything. What's the worst feeling... no line of contact for the visa... only a stupid email address that doesn't get responded to.

:(

Thanks,
I had a BVB last year November and it just expires at a certain date that was given to you on the email about the visa status... then it reverts back to whatever BV you were on before. At least this is my understanding of what I was told before.

Yep, it's bullshit. I hear ya.

There is no rhyme or reason to it. I'm 90% sure it comes down to the whim of whoever looks at your application first.

No DIBP apologists can convince me otherwise.

Also, since my initial reply wasn't very helpful, don't let it get to you. I know, easier said than done, right? But at the end of the day a sangfroid or stoic approach is what will see you through. Getting worked up because someone has had a little more fortune than you isn't going to help anyone. Maybe it's been just as stressful for them? It's all relative, I suppose.

Yes it's not fair. Yes the department covers its arse so you can't badger them everyday and gives you inflated time-frames, again to make you question your entitlement. But f**k 'em! All these people have over you is better superannuation at the end of the day. You can contact them as often as you like and it won't affect your outcome in the negative (unless you're abusive, obviously). But there's absolutely no reason why you can't highlight inconsistencies to them when they're actually there.

Be proactive, keep uploading stuff, and at the end of the day realise that hey, you're in Australia, you WILL get approved, and you WILL get the 801, and you've got medicare and other services you can exploit, and all of this will one day be behind you.

I used to let it get to me. Now I realise that it's not us. It's them! You can't rationalise with a faulty system. So just Zen through it. It will eventually happen.

Yep, when my mate got approval for his wife from a high risk country in 6 and half months, I lost my mind. But I soon realised, getting worked up will only make it worse.

Cooler heads will prevail.

:D

Hi Gabby,

The email I received was something like the below, which is why I thought it's quite specific as they only requested for these 3 things which I had not provided before. My status hasn't changed to "information requested" and I didn't see any "information provided" button in my ImmiAccount, so I just replied to the email, letting them know that I have attached all the required docs into my ImmiAccount. I'll let everyone know if I hear any news :)

The 801 evidence will be since the grant of the 820, therefore it is better to upload the evidence as you go along.

Hi croissantgirl,
I got a similar email except mine asked for more evidence of relationship until now, Form 80 and health examination. I'm really delighted for getting such an email as I just applied for 820 four months ago!

Hi SharKs,
Just saw your timeline. Can't believe that you got 801 right after 820 due to 3 years of de facto relationship. A lot of people told me that once 820 is granted there will be 2 years waiting period. Did you get an email from the Immigration before applying for 801? Or did you just go ahead and apply for it without any notification from the Immigration? Or you didn't apply for it but they still granted you?

:)

We applied in October. Got the same email a few weeks ago. Think it's just an automatic thing
I don't think it's automatic if it's actually asking for specific documents to be uploaded. I got the the same thing last week.
The email does state however that "you are not required to resubmit information if you have already provided it". It requested some items already submitted such as AFP and Form 888 stat decs from 2 Australians.

Hi,

I said in my original application (the first stage, 820 for most) that I would like to be considered for the 801 straight away. The initial application is for 820/801, depending on which criteria you meet you might get granted the 801 at the same time as 820. You are eligible for 801 if you can prove that you have been living together for over 3 years at the time of the application (so that's why you don't have to wait an extra two years, I believe it's 1 year for 820). However when they looked at my application they overlooked that we had been living together for over 3 years at the time of application (4.5 years by the time my application got assessed), so I reminded them of this and they eventually looked at my application again and granted the 801. That is why there was 5 weeks in between grants.

I see. I know a lot of Chinese people did not dare to send an email to remind them lol. They waited for a few years. Very patient I would say. Congrats to you!
