Hi Guys,

So after deciding to lodge our police checks and book my health exam myself after hearing nothing for 8 months, spookily the next day my migration agents forwards an email from Immigration requesting the following:

AFP Police checks for both you and Luke.
UK Police Checks for you.
Current colour passport photos for you and Luke

You are required to complete medicals. They have provided a new Medical Referral (attached) but the HAP ID is the same (see attached) so your current booking will work.
We have until 1st Feb to complete these but the sooner the better.

The email came from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, so they must be finally getting some help in procesisng our applications. Wanted to share the good news as it may give you hope if you are still waiitng

Just received my first New Year's surprise~~
My 820 Visa was granted yesterday after 10.5 months waiting~!!

Application submitted on 22nd Feb 2017
AFP & Medical check on 12th Dec 2017
820 Visa granted on 9th Jan 2018

Applied onshore but processed by Jakarta Embassy.

During the 10.5 months, no emails requiring for further info. We just kept uploading the evidence that we think useful.

Keywords: De facto(registered in Jan 2017), weekend couple(we live&work 150km apart).

Just want to update my status here.
I received the visa granted email last Friday after 11.5 months.
I saw a lot of people getting their visa granted lately. Big congrats! The department is trying to speed up the process I guess. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I am from the USA and applied 15 months ago. I haven't heard a thing, I have everything done and am still waiting. When I applied wait time was 15-17 months, so was hoping to hear something by now, but now its 20-25 months, so im screwed lol

Did anyone request your police checks/medical? If so, it could mean a CO is looking at your case, but it doesn't mean your application will be processed anytime soon either.

The average wait times from what we see on the forum is around 14-16 months. The "estimations" that DIBP give out are more so "maximum estimations". It DOES NOT mean your application will take 20-25 months, but that most applications are processed in that time, whether it be a month month or 15 month or 22 month wait.

So I applied on 19 November 2016. we haven't heard from immi besides police check for my partner. I don't know it's because whether I am from a high risk country (Turkey) or I took a while to upload documents, or I left the country to visit my parents and went for a holiday with my husband.

Now it has been 13 months, since I lodged. What do you recommend? should I go to a solicitor, or should I not panic and keep waiting until it's 20 to 25 months

I am new to this forum and very pleased to be here. I applied Onshore Partner Visa 820/801 since April/2016 and I haven't heard anything from the Immigration. I submitted all of my documents and did my Medical test in October 2017. I am so worried if I did anything wrong in the application .

I am from Vietnam (24 yo), married to an Aussie (28) in 2015 . We were together for 1 year before married , I applied for Partner visa 4 months later . My Student Visa is still VALID even though I have stopped studying for over a year ( pretty sure the school already cancelled my COE) .

* My question is : Should I go back school now in case they find out I am holding no COE while going through my application ? or I just leave it alone since I am saving for a home loan , I don't really want to spend on anything else. ( the processing time is now changed from 20-25months )

I even submitted form 1221, Form 80 and everything I could.


I believe my application is strong and relationship is genuine as we met at work and we share a lot of mutual friends .My in laws went Vietnam to meet my family before the Wedding ( photography evidence) and my family came over here a few times to visit us after the wedding. We are on Lease Contract , bills , holidays receipts together. However, it has been 20 months and hear NOTHING from them.. I am stressing out ..It has become depression these days . I checked Vevo, Mail, Immiaccount at least 3 times a day, my heart skips a beat every time someone mentions about my application / paperwork .

It is not recommended to stop study after you apply for a partner visa. Can I ask what kind of bridging visa you are holding now?
I don't think you going back to school can make any difference to your visa processing.
Really, right now you just have to wait.

The processing time for is 20 to 25 months. It is all a waiting game. I was in the same boat as You.

However, i received my visa in 18 months

I am on Bridging A .
I asked to defer my study when I got married but they said No plus I want to do other course , I cancelled my course with them.

Yesh ! I guess the only thing I can do now is just to wait ! Do you know if it is normal for applicant from Vietnam to wait this long ?

Back to the waiting game

Immigration requested recent passport photo's of us both, police checks and my medical on the 4th Jan 2018, and gave us till the 1st Feb to submit them.

I submitted everything on the 16th January 2018, so now it's back to the waiting game! Our email request came from the Jakarta Australian Embassy, really hoping it won't be too much longer.

It's hard to estimate on here as some people have been lucky enough to receive the grant a few days after submitting their final pieces of evidence but others have waited another 6-9 months....eek. It's going to be a tense wait from here.

Would love to hear some success stories of fast visa grants after submitting your medical & police checks

Hi guys ! I am in the waiting room too. Applied 20 th February 2017 onshore. An email came from sponsorship assessment unit on December 2017 asking for sponsor’s police check. Since then nothing. On the email there was an officer asking for it .. it wasn’t a generic one and at the bottom of the page was mention WA. Have u guys experienced to have been given the visa without having the sponsorship application status changed at all through the waiting period? It is confusing .. I uploaded front Medicals and police checks, just refreshed and added extra new staff..
As much I think about where to add evidence and under which section it makes no sense as it seems repeating everything. I didn’t want to upload so many times the same evidence.
Do u reckon I should enquire about visa status on Perth temporary partner email address .. where did u drop emails?

My partner and I applied for the partner visa 820/801 November last year (we've played the waiting game for two months now) and it came to my attention recently that a friend of ours who did form 888 for us provided the wrong date in her statement.

I arrived in Australia in February 2015 and started going out with my partner in April that same year, meaning she would have met me around that time. However, she wrote in her form 888 that she met me in late 2014 as she was going camping when she wrote that and didn't remember exactly when we met. I understand that even though our relationship is genuine and honest (we provided a lot of evidence and I personally think it's a relatively strong application), inconsistent information regarding the timeline of our relationship can be a red flag and the immigration department can outright reject/cancel my visa.

I'm pretty stressed out by this right now and have no idea what to do. Do you think I should withdraw my current application and apply for a new one (does that mean that the immigration department won't be able to see my previous application and compare it to the new one as I wouldn't want it to look suspicious)? Should I wait until I receive an answer from them and repeal if it comes to that? I personally don't wanna wait for 20-25 months if I know for sure they're just gonna turn down my application.

Really hoping for get some information/advice from someone who has gone through this before. Thank you.

The standard processing time atm is 20 to 24 months. I know its a long wait but there are some cases we seen on this forum that the grant was done within 18 months.

Hi everyone

I have a situation here and I am kindly asking everyone for any idea and knowledge if ever you have encountered the same situation.
I lodged my online onshore partner visa last December 2017 I noticed that I made a mistake placing my Attachment instead of attaching them to their respective sections I did attach all of them to "Others" Category, that was after I confirmed my submission and as we all are aware we can't move this attachment.
please advise if ever you have an idea how to rectify my mistake.
