Dear all! I have been reader of this form for long .. I applied for spouse visa in Mar 17, additional info - AFR of partner was requested on 16 Jan 18 , we submitted the details on 31 Jan 18. Today I received an email asking for me to upload form 1022 Notification of changes in circumatsnaces. There are no changes , except that I have started working now and I had provided an update about this to the department. I am not sure why this form is requested now since all the information required is already provided. Can you please help!!!!! Pls!! It’s making me restless !

Just a quick question for those who have had short turnarounds on their applications recently; have your sponsors been required to get an Australian character check?

My spouse applied for her 820 in November; and was contacted recently to provide a police check and medical, but there's been no request for me to provide a police check. Is that normal? Should I just get one anyway?

I provided police checks for myself and my partner before being requested. I know it's probably not necessary for my partner(sponsor) to supply police check. But whatever, only 40$.

I also did my medical check in Dec 2017 without being asked for - 9+ months after the submission of my application. And to my surprise, the 820 visa was granted in early Jan this year.

Just wanted to be proactive and didn't like waiting in fear everyday.

It's listed as a requirement under the sponsor checklist at the immigration website.

There has been someone else who got an initial request for more information and it didn't ask for the sponsor police checks. After supplying the initial information requested, the police checks for the sponsor were then requested. Can't remember who it was but you can probably do a search and find the thread.

Someone else on here as posted recently that they had their 820 approved without supplying all the documents, but seeing how he didn't respond when questioned more specifically, I can only assume he was a troll and that he gave incorrect information just to mess with people.

I had a consultation with Mark Northam in December 2017 and he advised us that both of us (the applicant and the sponsor) would need Australian police checks.

Hi Guys,
just a quick question. My wife lodged her 820 application May 2017, 2 days later her BVA was granted. Her student visa just expired this week.
Apart from that BVA letter,we haven't received any emails yet, such as medicals and etc.

We did provide quite sufficient documents initially, such as both of us provided police check and etc.

Is it normal waiting for 10 months, still no medical check request?

and also, we are going overseas in May, what if they request medical check while we are still in overseas? It that ok we do it when we come back, we will be back to sydney early June anyway.

Pleas help!!!!!

Thanks

Hi, HarryPotter quite a few members on here have completed their medical without being specifically asked by a CO. If you can fill out your HAP ID, I would suggest just getting it done soon.

Usually the department gives applicants 28 days to complete a requested medical. If you're going to be out of the country for more than two weeks you will need to notify the department with your change in circumstances (this can be done through your immi account) and new address during that time. Therefore, immigration will know you will be out of the country and probably won't request the medical during then.

It's perfectly normal for medicals not to be requested in less than a year after applying--processing may take up to two years after all.

Read here for instructions: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav...th-requirement/arranging-a-health-examination

It explains how paper applications can do it.
Yeah, just read it. says:

Please wait until your visa officer contacts you, do not use the My Health Declarations service if you have already lodged a visa application. It will delay processing of your visa application.
Note: To minimise processing delays, you should complete your required health examinations as soon as possible.

so we got no options, just wait then.

lodge a paper visa application, you need to access the login screen at eMedical Client Login.

Enter your family name, HAP ID and date of birth. Enter the CAPTCHA characters that you see or hear and click 'logon'."

The CO can give you the HAPID but there is probably another way to get it as others in the past had done it. Just search the forum.

A quick google can't find out how to do it... maybe you can't but I thought I remembered reading people who had done it.

Either way, doesn't really matter if you just wait for a CO. You don't have to get to done in 28 days, just respond in 28 days. So if you're overseas when you get the request and can't do it where you are, make an appt in Australia for when you're back and upload an explanation.

The 28 day thing is because they can't sit around waiting for people not to respond. If you are making an effort to complete the requested items, then you're fine. If you can't supply them in the timeframe, you supply proof that you have an appt even if that appt is after the 28 days.

FBI checks at one point were taking up to 4 months, and immigration recommends to wait until they request for police checks. It would be a bit unfair if they gave 28 days to supply knowing that and denied a visa. As long as you respond saying "Hey I applied for it. Wait times are 4 months. I'll upload when I get it." This is just an example.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I am much less stress now.

Hey,

I'm looking to lodge my 820 partner visa soon - cannot believe the current processing times!.

Quick background, i'm originally from the UK, currently on a 457 visa and applying for the 820 on my partner's visa (also originally from the UK) he has held PR for around a year now and is just applying for Citizenship this month.

A quick question, and i'm really sorry if it's been answered before there's so many responses on this thread it's hard to go through it all, what was the waiting time for the CO to request you apply for your Health Checks and Police Records?

I've been advised this usually happens around 2 months after application, but i find this optimistic after reading a few of the posts on here and given the current processing time of 20+ months.

Thank you

I am new to this forum and wondering whether anyone else has the same situation as myself.

I applied onshore for my 820 visa on the 12th September 2017, I’m from the UK with my partner being an Australian citizen.
We received notification from the Jakarta office that police checks for both countries and medical was required. I submitted all this information on the 26th Feb and was wondering if anyone has had their visa granted from this office, and what waiting time they had?

There is no specific time frame for those items to be requested. It happens when they look at your app and want those things from you. That can be in one day or one year or even more.
