Just thought I'd share that my colleagues 820 was granted today (she also gave birth to their first daughter today!! How amazing is that!) she applied in August 2014, pretty sure she didn't hear anything until the grant! :)
That's great news for her on both fronts! She's the first August application being granted that I've heard of. Do you know which office granted her application?

I've just been granted my 820 today! I applied on 13 June 2014, and now on 25 May 2015 (just under a year) have been granted the 820. I applied online and submitted everything upfront including my medical, police checks, and form 80. The only email I ever received the whole time was from the department letting me know that my application had been sent to Perth, and that was a couple of months ago. I just thought I'd let everyone know how my situation went as I know I wanted to read about everyone else's when I was first applying! Now to wait another year for the 801..... At least I can travel at will and am not nervous waiting for the first decision anymore!
Congratulations, it must be a great relief!

801/820 Visa lodged 29th August 2014 in Melbourne for low risk partner (onshore)
All documents, police checks, medicals submitted at time of lodgement. Visa granted 21st May, 2015. No interview required. Good Luck to everyone still waiting!
Congrats!! Do you know what office your application was done at? I applied from Melbourne but it got sent to the Perth office. I'm assuming some offices are working quicker than others seen as people who applied after me are getting granted! Urgh I'm so impatient!!

Woohoo, just got my 820 approved this afternoon. Very shocked, surprised and happy! I applied online on 16/07/14 and my status changed to 'application received' on 12/05/15. I had no contact from my CO whatsoever which is the surprising bit as I did not upload a Form 80 or get any of my documentation certified. Seems like instead of slowing down approvals before financial year end they are actually speeding up. Looks like my application was processed in Queensland, I live in NSW. Good luck to all others waiting, hopefully it won't be too long definitely not the 12-18 months currently being quoted.

I believe mine was done in Melbourne, the footer of the document with the visa information has the Melbourne office's contact information. Good Luck!

Dear all,

My husband was granted the 820 today (DIBP works on Saturday?). Quota schmota! Haha. So happy.

Applied online decision ready on 11 Dec 2013. Pakistani origin.
No interview, no police check renewals or medical renewals and no Form 888s!!

Other facts about the application:
This is my second time sponsoring, we have a child together, never used a migration agent.

Good luck all!

We are eligible for 801 in Dec this year so we'll enquire in the next few months re additional paperwork.

Yay! We are on par now!

If we applied one month later we would've been granted 801 straight away.... we were 23 months together, and the requirement at application was 24 months. Wish I had known that on application. All good.

Looking forward to that chapter.

Thanks all.

Congrats!! Very interesting about no 888's.

Maybe that is why they need to increase the partner visa fees ;). Gotta pay for their overtime somehow.

Hey, thanks. Glad they are doing overtime! Haha.

Yes, I intentionally left out form 888 out of sheer laziness as we had a few done but their validity ran out, I think they only last 6 months. I was just going to wait for them to ask for it otherwise I'm sure it's not more powerful than pics with the family, family holidays etc.

We have finally submitted my 820 application and paid! I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone on this forum! We would have been so completely and utterly lost without all of the creeping I have done on this forum to find out what the necessary steps were.

I am now in the process of uploading all of our documents. Under the "recommended" categories they have many things where the same piece of evidence would be sufficient, e.g., a birth certificate. Should I upload this piece of evidence twice or just leave it blank and hope that they will see it under the other categories?

Also, we will be travelling back to the states for our American wedding reception at the end of June, so I will need to apply for a BVB. My WHV doesn't technically expire until the day after we travel though... Can I still apply for the BVB to cover me for my travel back to Australia?

Thank you so much in advance!

I didn't upload evidence twice as I wanted to maximise upload slots. In the section for document description you could put "applicant's proof of (category one and category 2)."

I think it's best to apply for bridging visa B before you go offshore because your bridging visa A will be null and void if you exit Australia without Bridging visa B. If you return to Australia on ETA, you are likely to be bounded by the restrictions of ETA until your 820 is granted : no work rights etc.

Hi all I just applied for my 820/801 at the end of May. I have applied from a pmv 300. Does anyone know if this means it will get granted quicker?
Sure will! Usually anything from a few days or weeks to a few months. We have had a few people take longer than that though but generally it is within 3 months.
