hello everyone, im arch and im currently on a 457 visa here in oz for 1 1/2 yrs now. recently, i was offered by my employer an 857 visa (to my knowledge this is a permanent residency visa). my question is, under this visa can i do additional work for other outfits after the required work time of my sponsoring employer? because with my current visa i am not allowed to do side line work and its a waste of time i reckon. just wondering
thanks in advance for any help

Yep, once you have an 857, that is a permanent residency visa and other than meeting your commitment with your sponsor you are free to do whatever you like.

Parents are a whole different matter and there are different visas and eligibility requirements involved, not to mention expense as well.
Start @ Family - Visas & Immigration and have a look via the options and parents.
There's a couple of threads in the Visas& Immigration section, one in particular where I posted of a side door approach.
But key thing would be you'll need two years on PR to show being settled, they need to be 65 and eligible re not having other siblings etc.
Suggest you have a look over on that section and post there as you need to.

hello wanderer,

it's me again arch,my company is about to start the process of applying for the nomination under the 857 visa and im just jumping ahead of it. one of my mate who undergone the same process has told me that if i'm to lodge my visa application (if the nomination will be approved) ONSHORE, my family which will be included in the application SHOULD also be here in Australia. is this true?
