Hi all,

My partner is currently on a 457 working visa, whilst I am on a 189 skilled permanent residency visa. Is it possible to add him as a de facto to mine (We meet the eligibily criteria). If so does anyone know about associated costs/ wait times.

Our alternative is for him to independently apply for his Permanent Residency but I was wondering would this option be easier

Thank you!

If the sc. 189 visa has been granted, you can’t add anyone to it. You could sponsor your partner for a partner visa or he can apply for his own permanent employer sponsored or skilled visa, if he meets the requirements.

Thank you for the response. I believe it will be cheaper to get PR in that case
Partner visas are PR as well, but general skilled or employer sponsored has much lower application fees, so worth looking into.
