Thankyou for the advice, we have something to go on.You can't add the child to a sc. 300 visa that has already been granted. I take it the child was included as a non-migrating dependent ?
A dependent child can be included with sc. 820 application, but the child would need to be in Australia on some other visa without "no further stay" condition.
A dependent child can be added to your sc. 820 application after it is lodged but before the temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) is decided, but the child would need to be in Australia on some other visa without "no further stay" condition.
A dependent child can be added to your application after your temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) is granted but before the permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) is decided. In that case the child must first be granted a Dependent Child visa (subclass 445), which will let them stay in Australia or come to Australia if they are overseas.
If the child makes a valid application for the sc, 820 visa, he'll get a BVA. I have heard of instances where Department staff have refused to add children to a sc. 820 visa, because apparently they don't understand their own rules...Just an update on this.
Today we received a 1 year multi entry 600 for the child.
No 8503 condition which is also great news.
We can now add him to the 820 application after we get married.
Does the child get a bridging visa after the application is submitted?

Really!, not online?because you will have to lodge a paper application.
While applying.Really!, not online?
We're not sure if we do this while applying, after 820 submitted, or after 820 granted.

roger thatWhile applying.
It's only a paper application if the sc. 820 has already been lodged. You should be able to include the child in an application that has not been lodged yet.Really!, not online?
