Hello,

So growing up I've moved a lot. I know that I've lived in at least over 20 houses during my lifetime. At least half of them within the last 10 years. Living in an abusive home I can't simply as my parents of the specifics for these addresses without raising suspicion. If I were to completely come out and tell my parents of my plans I know for a fact I'd be kicked out and they wouldn't help me. I guess what I'm asking is what can I do for this part of the process. I don't want them to deny my visa because of my parents. I know there is an explanation category where you can state why there are gaps but I don't know if they would consider this reason acceptable. Thank you for any help you can offer

Isn't the question only asking for addresses in the last 10 years since turning 16? I'm not sure, it's been a while since I've seen the application.

I moved around a lot as well. I used a few techniques to gather addresses.

1. Best way was to look at my free annual credit report. It lists every reported address I've ever lived at (reported as in my licence or ID was registered to that address, maybe even bank or credit card, insurance, etc). It even gave dates those addresses were reported so it gave me a rough idea for dates.

2. Use social media posts to figure out where you were living at what time (so in 2007 I was in college so I must have been in this town) and ju st use Google Maps to map search then give you the address. I can never remember the actual address once I move but I always remember how to get there.

3. Are you still friends with any neighbors? Ask them for their address and use Google maps to figure out yours or ask them to look at your old one. Ask friends as well. I know my friends often have my address to send me things like Christmas cards so they may have previous address saved as well.

4. Look for any old bills (bank, phone, internet, rental agreements, etc). They should all list an address on the statements. Hopefully they were paperless statements and a quick email search will find them for you. If not, somtimes you can still log in to online systems for the company and access your history with them.

Have you actually checked your credit report? You'll be surprised that they know where you've been. I had addresses on there that my licence hadn't been updated to.

You should definitely explain the situation. You don't want to put incorrect information without explaining that it was the best you could find.

I'll definitely do more research but I got lucky. My brother might have a couple more addresses
