Hey Linda! I´m Anette from the south of Sweden. I think there was a norwegian girl applying last year but I think it was her partner that wrote on the forum.I´m not sure..I´ve been doing so much reading here since.lol
I´m in Sweden right now,was on a 1 year tourist visa with my partner but had to go back late october 2012. That was devastating
I applied for a temporary partner visa 309 on dec 20. Can´t wait to go home to my future husband,so hard to be away from each other like this..
We live 50 minutes above Maitland,up in the mountains at Barrington Tops Beautiful area! This is Hunter Valley,NSW.
I have a friend from Finland living in Raymond Terrace, near Newcastle
Look forward to hear from you! xoxo
PS Seems rude to write in swedish here so I just wrote in english as usual
I'm crossing my fingers your application is processed quickly so you can get back to your man! It seems like immigration has speeded their processing time a bit, so hopefully you'll get your visa soon!
My visa was lodged late January 2013 and is basically ready to be granted (I hope! Hehe. They didn't request any further information or interviews so it better mean it's granted ), but I am currently in Norway, so I won't know for sure until I return.
I know all about how it feels being so far apart! Skype just doesn't cut it! And just having to wait, not knowing when a decision will be made must be even worse
I was fortunate enough to apply onshore just as my WHV expired, so I will be back in a month, and hopefully we'll be able to REALLY start our lives together then! With no more uncertainty! We didn't expect to get a CO this quickly though, so when I had to travel to Norway for 3 months to finish up my work here it was a big surprise to suddenly receive an e-mail requesting me back to Australia because the VISA application is ready to be processed and finalized! I'm very happy about it, though!
(and yeah, it's probably better to keep it in English in here, hehe)
Btw - I love NSW! That's where my partner is from! It's so beautiful there with all the mountains and green forests! The snakes scare me a bit, though... luckily we don't get many of those in Brisbane, hehe.
Yea,I read your visa looks ready to grant! You must be so happy! I can imagine when we know for sure, got it in writing and all, that the stress simply goes away I can´t wait for this long waiting game becomes a memory of the past..hehe
Glad you guys can use skype thank God for the internet, wouldn´t have met my man without it His laptop crashed a couple of days ago so I can´t get in touch with him now, heard it off my youngest stepson.Hope he gets it fixed asap!!
About snakes...we have them under the house according to my partner.. I´ve seen several red bellied black snakes but also a brownsnake.. The river runs nearby and we have a creek running through all the paddocks down from the mountain.Neighbour have 2 dams in the property next door and we have one aswell. The snakes like being there and we almost stepped on a black the same day I arrived coz we were all lovey dovey..It was probably looking at catching the lizard we were looking at aswell. We live and learn..lol
I know I should be more afraid of snakes but it´s the rodents I detest,yuck..
My partner has a bit of family up in Brisbane, but we don´t keep in touch with them. Most live up in Toowoomba where his parents moved years ago to be near her sister. They lived down in Newcastle but slowly most of them followed my partners parents up there. We have a lovely spot here with ½ an acre in between the dairy farms so we´re staying as long as we can hold on to it
It´s mixed feelings to be back don´t you think? I´m realizing that I love Sweden after all but I also feel I have no future here. It´s in Oz with my partner I wouldn´t have it any other way
Yeah, I can't wait to have it all in writing, over and done with! We'll definitely crack open a bottle of champagne when that happens! hehe.
That sucks about your partner's laptop! If you both have a smart-phone you could try to install Viber - it's an app that lets you send free text messages/call over your WiFi/phone network! Makes everything a lot easier!
Oh God, I would live in constant fear with all those snakes around me! lol. But you get used to them, I guess! I've always enjoyed walking in the mountains etc. but in Australia that just doesn't seem as tempting! My partner took me for a walk in the mountain behind his childhood home and although we didn't see any snakes I returned with a leech on my foot! Yuck yuck yuck! Haha. The bite itched for weeks!
It sounds like a really nice spot you've found though! And so is my partner's childhood home. Sounds a bit like what you describe, and it's so beautiful! For me, sitting on the veranda feeding lorikeets and watching wallabies jump about in the distance at sunset was pure magic! They also have a peacock in the garden (keeps snakes away!) and I love it! It's very foreign and exotic to me, hehe.
But yeah... I have some mixed feelings about being back. I have so many friends here that I love and miss, and it's been REALLY hard realizing that I won't be able to be part of my nephew and niece's lives the way I wish... and that I miss out on friends' weddings and other big occations. And Norway is a great country to live in. But at the same time I am SO ready for a change and I felt so at home in Australia... so I feel like I'm finally following my dreams and doing what I want/need for a change - and that feels really good
