Hello,
My partner and I will be submitting his prospective marriage visa online shortly. From what I have read, as he is based in New Zealand, it will be processed by the Australian High Commission in Auckland. Is this correct? And also correct for online applications?
If anyone has submitted a PMV application in NZ recently I would love to hear of your timelines!
Obviously the global wait times cause a bit of anxiety as we are separated, but thankfully as he is only in NZ we are able to visit each other every few months.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I thought I would let you know that my partner and I also applied for a PMV on 9 September 2017. I'm a Brazilian currently in Auckland, NZ and my fiancée is in Melbourne so similar situation to yours. I have heard the visas are processed through the Australian embassy here in Auckland. So far we have waited almost 4 months and heard nothing other than a request for a medical and biometrics the week of application. Current application status is "Assessment in Progress". Good luck to you!

Hi,

It depends on what visa he's got in NZ. If he's a resident or holds a long term visa then it will be Auckland office processing the application.

I have applied from NZ on 18 August 2017,
Got medicals done in October without request and first heard from my CO on 14 February 2018. They asked for NZ police check and confirmation of NOIM which I updated same day. It's been a month since then and we are still waiting. What are your timelines?

Offshore applications are usually processed by the processing centre dealing with whichever country is the country of (permanent) residence. In most cases this is the passport country. But I have had people on tourist visas in NZ, whose Australian tourist visa application was processed in Auckland and not their home country.

Onshore applications are now often outsourced to random offshore processing applications. Not sure if this is the case with offshore applications as well. All my offshore applications are generally being processed by the regular processing centres.

Hi Roseworthy,
I wondered if you have heard anything from your case officer yet? My partner and I have also applied from Auckland in September 2017.

Guessing there is no easy way to tell where your application is being processed, until/if you are contacted by a case officer? Asking as my partner is based in Auckland on a student visa (so not a permanent resident of NZ), but has not lived in his passport country of Brazil for more than 6 years. Trying to gauge whether it is being processed in Auckland, as we initially assumed.

Hi Gabsofkiv,
No more news since request of additional information. Hopefully it won't extend for another half a year. Have you been assigned a case officer yet?

That's annoying. Hopefully you will hear something soon.
I don't think we have been assigned a case officer - at least we have had no communications and are just under 6 and half months in. But yours gave me hope as your application date was 3 weeks before ours. Hoping we will also hear something soon! Good luck to you, let me know if anything changes for you :)

Hi there! Have received a letter from my case officer a week ago saying my visa is ready to be finalised but I need to leave the country and come back to activate it as we applied from NZ, but we are in Australia atm. So almost there, just trying to sort where to fly out and when! Good days. Good luck to you!

309 Visa Lodged in NZ

Hi All.

Our visa situation:

- Applied for partnership visa on 31 Mar 2018
- I am Australian citizen
- My partner is a UK citizen, but NZ Permanent Resident
- We got immediate request for health examination and biometrics (which was completed 12 Apr 2018)
- Current status is "Further assessment"
- Estimated processing time: 10 months to 13 months

Is this similar to everyone else's experience so far?

Thanks :)

Has anyone had any PMV grants recently? Seems to have gone pretty quiet in the last few months and I'm wondering if it's due to end of financial year? I've heard conflicting stories - some people have mentioned a flurry of grants in May as the end of FY comes closer and cases are closed in an attempt to "clear backlog"... others have mentioned a slowdown in May/June. Or it is all just speculation?!
Any point in getting hopes up for a grant before 30 June?

I would (and am) just trying to roll with it at this point. There were a few quick grants out of Ottawa (where mine is being processed, though I'm in New Zealand), right after I had a request for additional info. I've submitted all my bits now, but haven't heard anything, which is frustrating, but what can I do?

It is pretty typical not to see (m)any grants past the end of May through July 1, but keep in mind the forum is a small sample size of all the thousands of applicants in the world. Keep your chin up and fingers crossed :)
