Applying Onshore or Offshore

Hi everyone,

Im very new to this forum, I have a couple of questions to clear the air about my never ending confusion.

I got married recently and my husband is an Australian, we have been in a long distance rship for 2 years. I understand we would need to meet all the 4 criterias to prove our marriage however, I am quite stuck on which visa would be the best for me to apply?

Can I apply an onshore subclass 820 visa while on an ETA ?

If I apply an offshore one, I will be working in Singapore and our period of separation would be 6 months, as we have always decided to meet every 6 months - this meeting period would be for a week whereby we would go for a holiday trip together.

You could apply the 309 offshore and keep working in Singapore or apply for a 820 onshore if your visa allows (no further stay is not good), but you can not work in Australia till your visitor visa stay period expires (normally 3 months) and Bridging Visa A kicks in (No travel rights).

Singapore application (309) might be faster but they seem to require all documents to be certified (only place that does) and that adds to cost and time.

Australian application (820) will take longer, but after application you can get Medicare and after Visitor Visa expires you will have full work rights, you apply for a BVB to travel overseas (in advance).

Relationship evidence maybe you problematic area.
