I'm a Brit citizen. I was born in Australia to British parents back in 1972. I've lived in the UK since I was two years old.
I've had a look at the official Australian website and can't determine whether I am eligible for Australian citizenship. Does anyone happen to know? If not, does anyone know of a telephone number or email address for someone who might know?

A person born in Australia between 26 January 1949 and 19 August 1986, automatically acquired Australian citizenship. Until 21 November 1984, such a person had the status of Australian citizen and British subject, but after that date the status of "British subject" ceased to exist in Australia.

Do you have your Australian birth certificate? That will make it easy to get an Australian passport.

2.2.4.10 Verifying Residence/Citizenship | Guide to Social Security Law quotes:
In most circumstances if a person was born in Australia between 26 January 1949 and 19 August 1986, they are Australian citizens by birth unless their father was a foreign diplomat.
