Hi All,
Due to an extended period of being unable to work i was unable to pay off a personal Loan Last year. Were hoping to apply for my partners defacto visa in a few months and are wondering if my credit history will affect her application. I asked a migration agent a few months ago an she said it would though im not certain if she knew what she was talking about as i have seen a few posts from a few years ago on this forum saying otherwise.
Does anyone have an idea if the situation has changed and immigration is checking credit scores?? also if i were to call immigaration to verify could they give me an answer??

It has not changed. Immigration doesn't care one bit about debt you owe to any private companies/organisations/banks. The only debt they care about is debt to the Australian government. I wouldn't recommend calling Immi - you're pretty likely to get 10 different answers if you make 10 different calls there.
