Hello,
I was wondering how long it takes to receive your bridging visa for the partner visa 801/820. Application was submitted on Thursday 29/3/17. The Department of Home Affairs Website says the processing time for the 801 is 17-24months surely this is not to receive the bridging visa though??

Bridging visa is usually issued straight away but it can take a few a days sometimes. Did you apply online? How did you pay? (Bpay?)

Hi

Yes, the bridging visa usually comes through 1-2 days after lodgment online (if you pay by credit card). As Skybluebrewer has raised above, if you pay by BPAY the visa application won't be officially 'lodged' until the BPAY payment registers with the Department's receiving account.

If your current visa is about to expire I would contact immigration immediately. However, it sounds like it might be taking a bit of extra time because of the long weekend.

Sorry that should have said 2018 not 2017 lol. Paid online with visa.

I figured you meant a few days ago and not over a year ago, haha.

How did you pay? BPAY, paypal, credit card?

Well if you paid by CC, payment should have been immediate and the BVA straight away. If you paid by BPAY, it could be delayed as you did it the day before Good Friday and it's a long holiday weekend so it may take longer than usual to process. I would wait a few more days and if nothing shows up via email or immi account then probably best to start contacting people. Could be that your bank flagged such a large amount and you need to sort it with them or could be on immi's end but first I would wait. Today is technically the first business day (for most banks) since you applied and it can take a few business days for BPAY to go through.

I'm assuming you have not yet received the Acknowledgment of Application Received letter either? You should get it via email and as a notification in the immi account. The BVA usually shows up right after that.

I submitted (online) same date (29/03/2017) and got the bridging visa after 2 mins.

Paid visa card. My partner is currently on immigration detention so that could be why it's taking longer? I also saw my bank only cleared the money for payment today even though I rang them and advised them I was making a large payment. I'm worried now after the person below said they got it the same day they paid when they did it the same day as me
