bridging visa waiting time

Hey Guys

So I applied for my 820 subclass back in March and expected to be on the bridging visa for 12 months. Now I have recently checked and it is now saying 20-25 months. Is there anyway to speed up this process? Has anyone been to the embassy for a interview or does getting married speed this up? Any pointers or advice would be great, we just want to get the ball rolling on this and start applying for mortgages etc.

Hi Little UK,

From my experience, the Bridging Visa doesn't have an expiry date. You will be on the Bridging Visa until your visa 820 is granted. It could take up to 20-25 months, but stay positive, I got mine in 7 months (I was married the time I applied) :D The grant usually appears out of the blue, considering that you've given your CO all the documents they requested for. I guess it depends from CO to CO, maybe some are busier than others. It seems to be just a waiting game, really... Goodluck!

I would suggest you not to provide the medicals until the CO requests for it. The CO will be assigned to your case and a letter will be sent to you requesting for additional info i.e police certificates and medicals. May I ask what those 8 uploads were? I had about 30... so 8 seems quite little but maybe it's just me. Yeah I understand it's a really stressful process and causes a lot of anxiety. Hang in there :)
