Ive often heard on talkback radio about people approaching MPs for help with speeding up the immigration process. The thing is when I rang immigration to check on the progress of my wife's migration they told me they have no information because we submitted it offshore and they have nothing to do with it until the embassy clears her and she comes here.

So if its all offshore can an MP help at all anymore?

Do not believe all you hear on talkback radio.
If you consider what happens if a MP makes an enquiry of any government department, somebody in the department needs to be assigned the task of generating a response and with immigration it'll likely be a CO and that will then mean one person less doing processing - end result, processing resources is effectively reduced.
There are thousands of applications going into Immi each week both abroad and in Australia and so your wife's is just in the queue.
Short Answer No!
