Hello everyone.
Our application for a 309 visa has progressed and our case officer requires us to do a police check.

The sponsor (me) will need to do an AFP check and my partner will need to do a local one in Hong Kong but also an Australian one because was previously here for more than 12 months.

My question is, what is the process for her to apply for the Australia police check (she is offshore)? Is it the same as the sponsor? If so how will she obtain the certificate? Can it be posted to my address?

You apply for the AFP check online.

Start there. Do both police checks for you and your partner, inform the department you have completed them and are waiting for them to arrive.

Wait for them to arrive and upload them.

If you are in Australia you can have them both posted to your address.

Just a warning - the HK police check sucks. They won't give it to the applicant, they'll only mail it to the requesting authority. So make sure she knows what address to send it to, and that she tells them to put her reference number on it.

Yep. We have a letter from the immi case officer with the reference details which my partner will print and bring with her. I read that HK police will pass the results directly to the requesting body.
