Hi,
I am trying to find out what other role of CO is, beside chasing up all documents and verifying them?

Also, if I don't agree with the CO's opinion on some document, who else has saying in it?

And most importantly, who decides the visa outcome and how much influence does the CO have?

Dificulties are derived from extra documents needed because of previous country of residence and the kids from previous relationship.

thank you all

Not that I work for Immi Ed but COs do have a role in the visa applications assessments if not the key role.

As far as chasing up documents, that is generally for applicants to do whereas the CO will advise applicants of shortcomings to give them an opportunity to do their chasing for further info.

The Immi regulations are set by legislation and COs and other Immi staff have no provision for variances, their activities being guided by Procedural Advice Manuals established using the legislation as a basis.

You may have a differing view to a CO and though you can raise that, the CO may not be able to take that into account and you will in fact do better to provide whatever it is that the CO seeks.

The CO is the person who'll make an initial decision, that likely to be overseen by a more senior person who may review any reasoning a CO has used.
