Would be grateful if anyone can shed any light on this.

I believe -if you hold Australian Citizenship by Descent, you can currently pass this to your children if you (the parent) have spent a collective total of TWO years in Australia, interestingly this can be at any time in the parent's life, i.e. child or adult, and regardless of whether it was before or after the birth of the child.

Does anyone know

Did the TWO year requirement increase from one year in the relatively recent past or have I got this wrong?

Also wondering if anyone is aware of anything in the offing which might cause this legislation to change in the future, i.e. be tightened up to be longer than two years.

Many thanks for any feedback!!!
