Hello all,
My husband is applying for a spouse visa and we found out a couple of weeks ago from our CO that he was about to begin the character assessment. It's been almost six months from the date our application was received by the embassy in D.C. (my husband is American) and we've supplied them with all the requisite documentation (State police checks, meds, FBI report).

Does anyone have any idea how much longer the wait might be?

Thank you,
Karen

You're very lucky to get any kind of contact or update from your CO about what stage your husband's visa application is in. I only heard from our CO after e-mailing her and asking what was going on.

How long it takes depends on how many applications they have in DC. I would contact the CO again and ask, nicely, how long it's going to take. If everything is in order though and he has no background, I don't think it'll take more than a couple of weeks or maybe a month at the most.
