Hi all,

Below site states that one of the elligilities to apply prior for citizenship is:
"have lived in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying"

https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav.../migrant-with-permanent-residence/eligibility

Now my question is that whats the definition of " valid visa"? My wife entered aus on Prospective marriage visa on Jan 2016. Does that count? ( meaning shes been in aus 2 yrs and 3 months)

Thanks very much

A PMV is a valid visa. However even if she was in Australia for 4 years on a PMV and then 820 if she does not have the 801 for 1 year at least she cannot apply for citizenship until she either been PR for 1 year if in Australia longer than 4 years.
