Hello

I applied for citizenship on 21st December 2020 - so it's been nearly 14 months and I have heard nothing.

I live in Melbourne. The application is marked as received in my immi account.

Is it worth calling them and asking or will they just tell me to wait? I'm just getting a bit nervous about why I haven't heard anything.

I did update my application to say that I was going to the UK in March for 3 1/2 weeks so I wonder if that has slowed things down?

What has others experience been if you are in Melbourne too?

I applied for Australian citizenship on 18th Jan 2021 - so it's been more than 13 months and I have heard nothing. Called a few times , I have written a letter and submitted via Immi account as advised by CS Rep of Home affairs , Still the same.

Is it better if you change to a regional or low population council to get your application fasten ? Anyone experienced on it, please share. thanks in advance.
Hey, yes. I think it's got to do with the area. I live in Western Sydney and only took 3 months to get my test scheduled. However, it was postponed months after due to lockdown. After exam, oath taking is 3 months after as I had to wait for my husband to take his exam because I wanted both of us to have the oatg taking at the same time.

My case is:
Date applied: 03 Nov 2020
City/Council area: Hume (VIC); Moved to Darebin (VIC)
Online / Paper: Online
Date received the acknowledgement email: 03 Nov 2020
Received notification of Citizenship Interview and Test: 01 Feb 2022
Date of the Citizenship Interview and Test: 10 March 2022
Citizenship Approval: 10 March 2022
Received Ceremony Invitation: Pending
Date of ceremony: Pending

So it was a long time until I got my interview. Around 14mos. Now I am waiting for my Ceremony invitation and date. A friend of mine applied last Oct 2020 and got his interview/ test last 25 Feb 2022 and just last week got his invitation to the ceremony on the 2nd week of April 2022.

So hopefully the invitation for the ceremony should be in the next 2-3 weeks.

I am in the same situation! applied in March 2020, request for further documents in September 2020, has been on further assessment since. have called a few times, they've all said that all I can do is wait. according to CS rep, they can only look into it if it's DOUBLE the 90% processing time, which is absolutely ridiculous to me
